Pilates; Improves posture and muscle control, increases strength and flexibility, strengthens the core, helps prevent back pain, aids relaxation and more.
Pilates is a unique exercise programme, encouraging the use of the trunk stabilising muscles that support the spine. Clinical Pilates is a modification of traditional Pilates and has been developed byphysiotherapists in keeping with current research findings and existing rehabilitation techniques It’s success rate has brought it to the attention of the medical profession. Physiotherapists are now recommending Pilates as one of the safest forms of exercise available.
The emphasis is on control of the deep stabilising muscles of the trunk which support the spine, thereby reducing postural pain, enhancing efficiency of movement and improving overall well being.
The exercises is Clinical Pilates are performed in a precise and fluid manner which combined with breathing produce improved posture and patterns of movement.
At the Physio Therapy Centre we teach Clinical Pilates either on a 1-1 basis or in a small class.
Pilates can help to;
You will be required to book a consultation for 1 hour, which will be a combination of an assessment and education with one of our physiotherapists, whose speciality is Pilates. You will be taught how to use the specific muscles necessary for Pilates control. Your physiotherapist will talk to you about the various options available to continue to develop your Pilates training. Follow up sessions can be booked as an individual or within a class environment. Please do ask reception for any information or advice.
