Pilates is a unique exercise system developed by Joseph Pilates over 70 years ago to treat injuries of those in the performing arts. Over time, his method has been refined and become more popular with the general public.
Clinical Pilates is a modification of Traditional Pilates and has been developed by physiotherapists in keeping with current research findings and existing rehabilitation techniques.
The emphasis is on control of the deep stabilising muscles of the trunk which support the spine, thereby reducing postural pain, enhancing efficiency of movement and improving overall well being.
The exercises in Clinical Pilates are performed in a precise and fluid manner, which, combined with breathing produce improved posture and patterns of movement.
At the Physio Therapy Centre we teach clinical pilates either on a 1-1 basis or in a small class. For class details please ring Nikki Laing on 07980311830.
